This was my first time photographing a birth, and it was, by far, the most special and beautiful photo shoot of my life.
Amanda and Sam invited me into the birthing room to take photos. That is SO incredibly special. I photographed beautiful moments, as well as raw moments, moments that some women would never want shown in photographs. Amanda was open and trusting, and that makes a perfect client. Birth is messy, sweaty, and sometimes ugly, and that’s what I love about it. My favorite moments are those that show the true nature of human life. A birth is the very beginning of that life, as well as a momentous occasion in the parent’s lives.
Big brother Connor’s entrance into the room was precious. The first thing he said was, “That’s my bwovver! I love you Kaysen! I love you Mommy!” My heart melted. Connor has waited nine months to meet his baby brother, and now he’s going to spend tons of time with him, protect him, and help take care of him. This makes a perfect family unit.
