Josephine’s family is rich with tradition, so she and Paul had a traditional Vietnamese Engagement Ceremony. It was AWESOME. Paul’s family came bearing gifts, and his father knocked on the door. Then Josephine’s father answered the door and invited them inside. It’s a version of the groom asking the bride’s father for permission to marry her, which is very sweet.
When Paul first proposed to Josephine, he was so nervous that he opened the ring box toward himself instead of toward her. Then at the ceremony he dropped the ring! Poor Paul… But he got it on her finger! She was BEAMING the whole day, showing her extreme happiness to be marrying Paul. Six years ago when she and Paul started dating, her father told her he would support her decision to marry if she finished school. Paul has waited all the time, and now it’s official!
